Two entities show up more than anyone else, and they’re doing different jobs.
Intapp is the busiest vendor on the list, with four moves in five weeks, all in service of Celeste, its “Firm AI” product. The Harvey and Microsoft Purview tie-ups both extend Intapp Walls, its ethical-wall and governance layer, into other firms’ AI tools rather than building governance into Celeste alone. The Moody’s deal adds counterparty and credit data on top. Intapp is positioning itself as the compliance and data layer that other AI products plug into, not just a product competing with them.
Microsoft Copilot is the second hub, but on the receiving end. Rogo became a launch partner for Copilot in Excel. Daloopa shipped an MCP connector into Microsoft 365 Copilot. Intapp Walls named Copilot as one of the platforms its governance layer already covers. Three separate vendors, three separate announcements, one common target. When several AI-native vendors independently choose the same distribution point in the same five-week window, that’s a stronger signal about where the buyer traffic sits than any one deal on its own.
Data licensing is the other visible pattern: Rogo added two newswire feeds, Metal added PitchBook, and Intapp added Moody’s, all pointing the same way. AI platforms are treating premium content and reference data as a competitive input worth paying for, not something to scrape or approximate.
Three moves in the same six weeks all wire AI platforms into Microsoft’s Copilot surface. Read alongside Intapp’s expansion into Harvey and Purview, the pattern points to a market that isn’t consolidating around a single AI vendor. It’s consolidating around a small number of distribution and governance layers that the vendors themselves are racing to sit on top of. For funds evaluating AI vendors, the question worth asking is no longer just “what does this tool do”, but “what does it already plug into, and who controls that layer”.
